Find inspiration for your garden centre at the Markthal in Rotterdam

The new Markthal (Market Hall) in Rotterdam offers a combination of food, leisure, living and parking. The food market can accommodate eighty fresh-produce and catering businesses. The hall also contains 4,600 square metres of shopping area, and under the building is a car park with 1,200 parking spaces. The market hall was inspired by fresh-food markets in Barcelona, Valencia and Stockholm. “Rotterdam’s Markthal is entirely in line with the increasing popularity in recent years of traditionally prepared regional produce and organic food,” says Laurens Sloot, retail professor at the university of Groningen. “Shop-floor production, shop-floor experts and bringing food closer to people – they are all important developments today.”
